<br />
My Polish Vistula Legion is almost done only five figures to go and the first battalion is complete.<br />
<br />
But for Christmas my wife got me several boxes of Perry plastics which will increase my army size by a third.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://bricole.46.forumer.com/index.php">"la Bricole"</a> has started it 2014 winter painting competition "Deploy Skirmishers" so since I was needing and planning Legere infantry, its a good thing to give me a deadline and sounds like fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2AyARULMRog/UsYiWRInVDI/AAAAAAAAAM8/6g8DeWu8b1o/s1600/9th+legere+work+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="181" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-2AyARULMRog/UsYiWRInVDI/AAAAAAAAAM8/6g8DeWu8b1o/s320/9th+legere+work+1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are my first few figures I had primed, I had originally planned to do a test this week, but when I saw the competition announced I stopped my last few Vistula Legion troops and started these.<br />
<br />
I do have a lot of painting to do, Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery on the board, so I will be busy for a while...Oh did I mention I also have a 28mm Japanese army to paint for Bolt Action and/or Chain of CommandJoseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-17679132853884970552013-07-14T13:48:00.000-04:002013-07-14T13:48:59.240-04:0013 July 2013 -- AAR<br />
<b>Scenario</b> = A British infantry brigade holds a village at a river crossing and farm there mission is to hold until relived by British and Brunswick forces. A French infantry division with a cavalry brigade and additional units.<br />

British foot artillery = 9lb<br />
Brunswick Infantry = four line battalions and a avantgarde battalion<br />
Brunswick horse artillery = 6lb<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The British and French deploy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-10Sd_h4qjyI/UeLIAPJSKuI/AAAAAAAAAMA/_zmbPgt5PS0/s1600/DSCN0953.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-10Sd_h4qjyI/UeLIAPJSKuI/AAAAAAAAAMA/_zmbPgt5PS0/s400/DSCN0953.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The French infantry move to attack, the artillery pound the structures trying to reduce them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-04idaRnAJQc/UeLIangfH8I/AAAAAAAAAMI/fwbKeIAE1zE/s1600/DSCN0954.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-04idaRnAJQc/UeLIangfH8I/AAAAAAAAAMI/fwbKeIAE1zE/s400/DSCN0954.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The brigade on the left failed to motivate to charge, so one of the battalions from the right brigade motivates to charge. One consonance was the Chasseurs a Cheval regiment charged unsupported and paid a high price and was force to retire Also we are lucky the Allied reserves have failed to arrive to attempt relief.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0dq6_we-E6M/UeLIyISSlqI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/791NrOX3XeE/s1600/DSCN0955.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0dq6_we-E6M/UeLIyISSlqI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/791NrOX3XeE/s400/DSCN0955.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The left brigade slowly presses on the attack and the right brigade charges home, at the end the allied reserves arrive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hsfBb6_9-40/UeLJYL_O3zI/AAAAAAAAAMo/8GFhruvrY4o/s1600/DSCN0959.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hsfBb6_9-40/UeLJYL_O3zI/AAAAAAAAAMo/8GFhruvrY4o/s400/DSCN0959.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Brunswick horse artillery moves aggressively and fires into the brigade assaulting the village and disrupts two battalions, the cavalry being in position protect one bridge crossing moves into action and the Cuirassier regiment forces the horse artillery to react, the cavalry have the initiative but fail motivate to charge and the horse artillery blast Cuirassier regiment forcing them to retreat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-20dV4Nen65A/UeLJP1ZTBLI/AAAAAAAAAMY/8k9OpM-fhE0/s1600/DSCN0958.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-20dV4Nen65A/UeLJP1ZTBLI/AAAAAAAAAMY/8k9OpM-fhE0/s400/DSCN0958.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The allied forces move and deploy along the river, but with the two French brigade capturing the village and the French artillery redeployed covering the bridges and the French cavalry in postilion to stop any crossing it was a French Victory.</div>

They look good, but I did notice some excessive flash on some of the metal heads. Other than that on my first glance over the box that really stood out. Additionally it came without a paper insert, like a Perry box has.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oT7siX939Ec/UX8dOQUkOxI/AAAAAAAAAJk/JTgdgGLP2Ro/s1600/DSCN0942.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oT7siX939Ec/UX8dOQUkOxI/AAAAAAAAAJk/JTgdgGLP2Ro/s320/DSCN0942.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T1W7IQbxQtk/UX8dTd5mkrI/AAAAAAAAAJs/1FkCwJO6lGk/s1600/DSCN0944.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-T1W7IQbxQtk/UX8dTd5mkrI/AAAAAAAAAJs/1FkCwJO6lGk/s320/DSCN0944.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I am planning to paint these up as the First Regiment since each regiment had two battalions.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I think these and my Murawski Poles (which I need more of) will fit in nicely when I get everything together.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I did post some pictures last month of my units in my Order Of Battle (OOB) page, they did not come out as well as I wanted them to, I am working on my camera work hoping to get better.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Moreover, all the little projects are coming along, though maybe not as fast as I would like. School and family does take priority.</div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Well I am busy modeling and painting, But I am unable to post pictures due to a bad camera cable I am now replacing, I tried to make it work, but it needs to be replaced.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I have finished my 6lb French battery. I have ordered a Westfalia Miniatures ammunition cassion to start on my artillery park.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I am almost done on my Carabinier Regiment, but I decided to make it eighteen figures (I can always add more later) and have started on my Cuirassier Regiment (I might make two) all will also be eighteen figures<span style="line-height: 18px;">.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span>
</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">Also I have some Paul Hicks Poles on order, I very much look forward to building a Polish Brigade.</span><br />

I really am not to keen on the Perry Guns; I will replace them with Elites or Front rank ones, but I will use them now until I replace them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sfi1Vi76-gA/UGZPktO6r2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/eaX_zEdYISc/s1600/DSCN0793-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="164" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-sfi1Vi76-gA/UGZPktO6r2I/AAAAAAAAAH4/eaX_zEdYISc/s320/DSCN0793-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Just have to flock the greatcoats base and half way done on the howitzer crew. And I will be complete, Have a game the second Saturday in December I am getting ready for.<br />
<br />
I tend to bounce between projects, I find I don't get bored or burned out painting the same thing all over again...after all it a hobby to provide me enjoyment and it does keep my stress down.Joseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-61081093190103557972012-09-22T12:04:00.001-04:002013-03-14T21:05:16.276-04:00Movement Trays & StorageI have often seen other blogs and site where players have their minis in trays, so I am storing my figures in the ArtBin <a href="http://www.artbin.com/en/art/site/details/6955AB">Super Satchelâ„¢ 1-Compartment</a> 6955AB. these are very nice boxes, I know when I start on my lancers I will have to get the deep box, but the nice thing they stack well and look good for the wife.<br />
<br />
Inside the box, the infantry stands would shift while I jumbled the box and I wanted the stands and units to remain intact as a Battalion unit. Thus I made some movement trays.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WNAgYlM8SgE/UF3esh4spjI/AAAAAAAAAHA/ugsGYV5UUWY/s1600/DSCN0789a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="151" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WNAgYlM8SgE/UF3esh4spjI/AAAAAAAAAHA/ugsGYV5UUWY/s320/DSCN0789a.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I took 1/8 inch basswood sheets cut to size of the unit, then I glue a 1/4 boarder around the base, I then sprayed it hunter green and it was as simple as that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ng57Bgsu1E/UF3frVkQSKI/AAAAAAAAAHI/80zzKCZMwN4/s1600/DSCN0790.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_ng57Bgsu1E/UF3frVkQSKI/AAAAAAAAAHI/80zzKCZMwN4/s320/DSCN0790.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
The units stack nice inside the boxes, but I do have to keep an eye on flag pole height. I do store my battalions in line formation and place my Perry loose Voltigeurs whom I have base individuality in a battalion in column baseJoseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-46398258749642361302012-08-23T11:47:00.000-04:002012-08-23T12:28:27.676-04:00WIP - CarabiniersI started work on some Carabiniers, Perry plastic models. I have two boxes but have only started to paint up one, I will be modeling the 1st Regiment of Carabiniers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
14 horse and riders from one box, I will be basing to play R2E, I just stuck them on these bases to get a good feel on how I will be basing. The plan is to have three of the figures on 70mm x 60mm bases, the 70mm front gives me enough too to avoid model damage, then squeezing them on a 60mm x 60mm base.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

The French were our numbered two to one so they were in the defense in a built-up area having two brigades of two batallions each; and a six pound battery in a redoubt and a half battery in the buildup area, and in reserve a Cavalry brigade.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /> The Anglo-Allies had horse arty and pulled the up to the redoubt and conducted a duel between batteries, the Anglo's had to many good roles. On the right flank the Belgians exposed one batallion and the French cavalry charge that battalion and forced it to flee in panic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x1s8il7W3G4/T1zzaYswd0I/AAAAAAAAAE8/HkkRKkOm_7A/s1600/DSCN0732.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-x1s8il7W3G4/T1zzaYswd0I/AAAAAAAAAE8/HkkRKkOm_7A/s320/DSCN0732.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
That was the good stuff on the right flank, on the left not so good. The Brunswicker's were massing for an assault and the French battery was being taken down by attrition. With them amassed they assaulted the built-up area, four battalions charged into the area against one battalion, it was a slug fest back and fourth, but even with feeding reserves into the built-up area it was not enough to keep them out and the French were expelled on turn eight. -- so end the game as the French were not with enough strength to come back.<br />
<br />
So a rematch in two weeks...we will have more Frenchmen, there on the workbenchJoseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-55878768914817684372012-03-01T20:54:00.000-05:002012-03-01T20:56:18.646-05:00A Few Infantrymanjust a few almost finished Perry French Infantry<br />

<br />
The RtE game was based on the War of 1812 with a allowance of two of us whom have European forces to get in and play and learn the rules <br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nUxCc4Yj0Ns/TzcyMGf-gaI/AAAAAAAAACI/z53BxMukovg/s1600/DSCN0697.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><span style="color: black; font-size: x-small;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nUxCc4Yj0Ns/TzcyMGf-gaI/AAAAAAAAACI/z53BxMukovg/s320/DSCN0697.JPG" width="320" /></span></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">My Militia Bde (French were Drilled) others were Recruit</span></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div style="text-align: left;">
We just played a meeting engagement, four brigades each side. Americans two regular brigades and two militia brigade. The British three regular brigades, one brigade having a veteran regiment and one militia brigade. I played a American militia brigade, one drilled regiment and two recruit regiments, no artillery was assigned to my brigade.</div>
</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6JOTESYy8Tg/Tzc09OpOrHI/AAAAAAAAACQ/YJ0bTC_lC5s/s1600/DSCN0699.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6JOTESYy8Tg/Tzc09OpOrHI/AAAAAAAAACQ/YJ0bTC_lC5s/s320/DSCN0699.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">British forces moving</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
It was a first time for most of us playing, so we took thinks slow and had a few learning curves. I had my recruit militia run from the field, but one of them did bloody one regiment before they broke.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J9wJI0seoJM/Tzc2ncjulzI/AAAAAAAAACY/ytIfWcuQPuc/s1600/DSCN0700.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-J9wJI0seoJM/Tzc2ncjulzI/AAAAAAAAACY/ytIfWcuQPuc/s320/DSCN0700.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My French holding steady ready for advance</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
While the militia held the right flank, the main fight was on the left, the Americans were holding the upper hand by taking out two British regiments, but they swung their veteran highlanders and caused a cascading moral failure along the left flank.<br />
<br />
All in all it was a good time had by all, it was the first time in over a year the club played these rules, there was a lot of people just watching. Everyone is excited to play again.<br />
<br />
Next month we will do European theater, so I can't wait to finish my French Bde.Joseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-40679640382273545802012-02-09T18:55:00.004-05:002012-02-24T16:50:16.367-05:00Terrain BuildingDid some Flames of War terrain building while I wait for my paint for my French.<br />

But not to knock my hobby store they can get anything, I think it was maybe bad communication on my part.Joseph Khttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00212259864581684196noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1182907877286719555.post-87138037631226801832012-02-02T20:36:00.002-05:002012-02-24T16:53:13.674-05:00UGHUGH..painting is at a crawl, the paint I ordered did not come in, so I just reordered online, but I have started on the horses, and have half a box of Perry's all primed.<br />

I am very pleased with the Perry deal, ordering direct from them saved me a few dollars and it took eleven days to get to me...I will do it again for sure.<br />
<br />
My plan is to start on six figures and see how I do them and then go from there, so I have six Fusiliers for one company, without greatcoats. the next few after that I will try in greatcoats.<br />

<br />
On a side note we discussed a possible Napoleonic game, using Republic to Empire rules next week, so I am excited to start that. We also talked an hour on basing, I guess my Interest has sparked a few other members in our club to also start wanting to play.<br />
